Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Publixy Magazine (“we,” “us,” “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://publixymagazine.com/ (the “Site”). The Site publishes articles on personal finance, mortgages, credit cards and credit scores, and investing.
This policy describes the technologies we have identified on the Site, the choices you have, and how we handle advertising and analytics technologies if we use them. It supplements our Privacy Policy and does not replace it.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device. They let a site recognize your browser, remember your choices, and measure how the site is used. Similar technologies include:
- Local storage and session storage: data kept in your browser, much like cookies.
- Pixels, tags, and web beacons: small pieces of code or tiny images that record that a page or ad was loaded.
- Device and browser identifiers: such as your IP address and browser type, which are sent automatically with every web request.
In this policy, “cookies” includes these technologies unless we say otherwise.
How We Use Cookies
Cookies on a site like ours generally fall into these categories:
| Category | What it does |
|---|---|
| Essential | Needed for the Site to load and work securely. These do not usually require consent. |
| Functional / Preference | Remembers choices you make, such as the details you enter in a comment form. |
| Analytics | Counts visits and shows which pages are read, so we can improve the Site. |
| Advertising | Helps show and measure ads, and may tailor ads to your interests. |
First-party and third-party cookies
- First-party cookies are set by PublixyMagazine.com.
- Third-party cookies are set by another domain, such as an advertising, analytics, or embedded-content provider.
Session and persistent cookies
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.
Cookies and Technologies Identified on the Site
The Site runs on WordPress. Based on a review of the Site’s public pages, the following are in use.
Comment cookies (functional)
The comment form includes an option to save your name, email address, and website in your browser for next time. If you tick that box, WordPress sets the cookies below.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| comment_author_[hash] | PublixyMagazine.com (first-party, WordPress) | Remembers the name you entered in the comment form | Functional / Preference | 1 year |
| comment_author_email_[hash] | PublixyMagazine.com (first-party, WordPress) | Remembers the email address you entered | Functional / Preference | 1 year |
| comment_author_url_[hash] | PublixyMagazine.com (first-party, WordPress) | Remembers the website you entered | Functional / Preference | 1 year |
[hash] is a site-specific string added by WordPress. These cookies are set only if you opt in. WordPress also sets login cookies for the Site’s authorized administrators and editors. Ordinary visitors do not receive them.
This table lists only the cookies we have been able to verify. Themes, plugins, and the cookie notice may store additional small items, such as a record of your cookie choice. We will update this table if we identify more.
Other technologies
- Gravatar: comment avatars are loaded from Gravatar’s servers (secure.gravatar.com), which receive your IP address and browser details when an avatar is requested. If you comment, an anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you have an avatar. See Automattic’s privacy policy.
- Theme design files: some design files used by the Site’s theme, such as logos, may be loaded from servers operated by the theme provider.
- Fonts: the Site’s page builder is configured to allow Google Fonts. If fonts are loaded from Google, your browser contacts Google’s servers.
- Forms: the Contact and newsletter sign-up forms collect the information you type into them. That data is covered by our Privacy Policy.
- Social sharing links: articles include links to share on Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, Telegram, WhatsApp, and email. These are ordinary links. Once you click one, you leave our Site and that service’s own cookie and privacy practices apply.
Analytics
We have not verified a third-party analytics service on the Site, so none is listed here. If we add one, such as Google Analytics, we will name it in this policy and describe what it collects. Where the law requires consent first, we will ask for it before the tool runs.
Advertising
We may display advertising through third-party services, such as Google AdSense. If we do, the following applies.
Google advertising cookies
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our Site or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and other sites on the internet.
- Google may send a cookie to your browser when you view a page containing Google ad code, or after an ad impression or click. These cookies may be associated with domains such as doubleclick.net or Google’s country-specific domains.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings. To learn more, see How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps.
Other advertising vendors
Other third-party vendors or ad networks may also place and read cookies, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to serve and measure ads on our Site. If we use any, we will name them here with links to their websites and privacy policies. You can opt out of many vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices and the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Personalized and non-personalized ads
- Personalized ads use data about your browsing activity, such as past visits and inferred interests.
- Non-personalized (contextual) ads are based mainly on the content of the page you are viewing.
Opting out of personalized advertising does not remove ads from the Site. It means the ads you see are not tailored to your browsing history.
Advertising and sensitive financial topics
Google’s policies restrict personalized ad targeting based on sensitive information, including detailed information about a person’s finances. We do not use ad technologies to target readers based on their personal financial circumstances.
Consent requirements in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
Google requires publishers using AdSense, Ad Manager, or AdMob to use a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) that integrates with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework when serving personalized ads to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. The Site’s current cookie notice is a simple notice with an “Accept” button and is not a certified CMP. Before serving personalized ads to users in those regions, we will put a certified CMP in place.
Cookie Consent and Your Choices
Our cookie notice
The Site displays a notice saying that it uses cookies, with an Accept button. At the time of this update, the notice does not include a separate “Reject” button or a category-by-category preference center. We will update this policy if that changes.
How to manage or withdraw your choices
You can control cookies in the following ways.
- Browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies, or warn you before a cookie is stored. Look in your browser’s “Help” or “Settings” menu. All About Cookies has general guidance.
- Deleting existing cookies: clearing your browser’s cookies removes the comment cookies listed above. The cookie notice may then appear again.
- Comment cookies: leave the “save my name, email, and website” box unticked and the comment cookies will not be set.
- Advertising controls: if advertising is active on the Site, use Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info, or the NAI opt-out page linked above.
- Opt-out preference signals: some browsers and extensions can send signals such as Global Privacy Control. Some laws require businesses to treat these as an opt-out request in certain situations.
Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works. For example, your comment details will not be remembered.
Privacy Laws and Standards
We aim to follow the laws and platform rules that apply to the Site’s audience, which is primarily English-speaking and includes readers in the United States.
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland: these regions generally require consent before non-essential cookies are stored or read on your device. Essential cookies are exempt. Consent must be informed and freely given, and you may withdraw it.
- United States: privacy laws in several states give residents rights over the collection and sharing of their personal information. These can include opting out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information.
- Advertising platform rules: platforms such as Google set their own requirements for publishers, including privacy disclosures and consent rules. These are contractual requirements, separate from the law.
Laws and platform rules change. This policy is not legal advice.
Data Collected Through Cookies
Depending on the technology, cookies and similar tools can collect information such as:
- your IP address
- browser and device type
- pages viewed
- referring website
- language settings
- information you enter into forms, such as the comment fields
The comment cookies described above store only the details you typed into the comment form, and only in your own browser. Data collected by third-party services, such as Gravatar and any advertising or analytics vendor we add, is handled under those providers’ own privacy policies. Retention periods for first-party cookies are shown in the table above. Retention for third-party cookies is set by the provider.
Third-Party Websites
The Site links to other websites, including brokerages, lenders, card issuers, and social platforms. We do not control their cookies or privacy practices. Please read their policies before providing information.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not knowingly use cookie data from children for personalized advertising.
Relationship to Our Privacy Policy
This Cookie Policy describes our use of cookies and similar technologies. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information more broadly, and how to exercise your privacy rights. Please read both.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices, the Site’s technology, or applicable requirements change, for example if we add analytics or advertising services. The “Last updated” date shows when the policy was last revised. Please check this page periodically.
